In his word in front of president Sisi ..transport minister: great revolution in the field of maritime transport in Egypt during the coming period.

  Engineer Hani Dahi, transport minister announced in his word in front of president Sisi, during the president inauguration of a number of projects in the field of transport, that development works have been accomplished and inauguration of maritime ports of Hurghada and Nuweiba has taken place; including departure and arrival halls to encompass passengers traffic between Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and providing distinguished service.

  The minister also added that a new berth has been established at Damietta port, and contracted on the operation of a maritime passengers’ terminal at Alexandria port, also third dock at ElSukhna port has been extended to receive liquefied gas vessel and now ongoing development works at Safaga maritime port to be finalized by next July whereas that of Adabeya port by next October. Also a contract for establishment of liquefied bulk terminal at ElSukhna to be a center for storage and distribution of petroleum products, of a total value 3 milliard pounds.

   Also agreement on general plan for maritime ports located at Suez Canal region has been revised and they are the ports of (East Port Said, West Port Said, Adabeya, ElSukhna, ElTour, El Arish) in agreement with Suez Canal authority and the project consultant, as a start for the development of East Port Said and ElSukhna ports as first priority.  

  Vertical extension through improving stevedoring rates and usage of modern equipment and establishing new berths which reflects on vessels’ lay days and increase ports’ revenues where it has reached 17.3% and increase in container handling of 9.5% which resulted in revenues increase.  

  Horizontal extension through equipping a bunch of new projects to be invited to a number of local and foreign investors, this after undergoing required economic and technical feasible study, also comprehensive studies preparation have been executed for the development of ports of ElTour and Sharm ElSheikh with a cost of about 750 million pound and another containers’ yard at East Port Said port with a cost of 5 milliard pounds.
