Ports storage capacities

  • The specifications of storage yards of the Egyptian Warehouses Company do not comply with the new equipment specifications.
  • El Dekheila port is characterized with vast land surface beside the berths.
  • Damietta port contains huge areas of storage yards having expansion potentials.
  • The storage yards in Port Said port have great potentials both general and specialized.
  • El Adabeya port is considered the port of the future due to its water depth and its large yards.
  • Till now there is no specialized container terminal in Suez ports area.
  • There is no facilities in Safaga port for general cargo and containers.

Storage capacities around the ports

Free industrial investments zones or storage areas.

Storage capacities in the hinterlands inside the country:

  • The storage capacity for wheat and grains cover all the State's Governorates.
  • There are no storage yards in inland transport port except what is specialized with a certain type such as coal inland port.

Storage capacities for containers in ports:

  • There is no C.F.S. terminal in Alexandria port affiliated to the main container terminal.
  • Suez and El Adabeya ports have yards duly equipped to store containers' stacks.


  • The completion of the establishment of El Dekheila port with its long berths and deep water.
  • The importance of the establishment of a specialized terminal to discharge and load containerized cargo C.F.S following the example of Alexandria container terminal.
  • The importance of the development of the storehouses of the Egyptian Warehouses Company operating in general ports and Alexandria port.
  • The necessity to provide the ports with high performance rates handling equipment and the necessary transport modes in addition to the completion of developing the Damietta branch to be suitable for inland transport.
  • Giving due concern to exploit the storage city in Noubareya as a dry port inside the country.
