Transport minister honors MTS after winning membership of IMO.

Dr. Hesham Arafat, transport minister has honored maritime transport sector ”MTS” working team headed by admiral Tarek Ghanim for their exerted efforts  in international maritime organization IMO elections which resulted in Egypt success and winning membership of IMO executive council category” c” in the elections of the organization undergone in London. Where Egypt has obtained 133 votes out of total 160 countries, hence occupying sixth rank after being seventh before  

   The minister praised exerted efforts and support of Egyptian authority and government, foreign ministry, Egyptian embassy at London, Suez Canal authority, Maritime Safety authority and navigational chamber in achieving such success.  

 Moreover, the minister has assured on the necessity of existence of a representative from maritime transport sector at the organization to attend its meetings and activating Egypt’s participation in its different maritime activities , especially that the ministry is exerting great efforts to develop the sector which is considered one of main  national economy pillars; specially that Egypt is a first class maritime country  and enjoys  a distinguishable geographical site  at the center of three continent, and on its land is the Suez Canal which plays a tremendous role  in facilitating international trade between East and West and has its extended long coasts on both Red and Mediterranean seas and of length reaching 300km.
