EMDB Subsystems
EMDB central database consists of more than 20 sub-systems covering the four major
information systems of EMDB:
Egyptian Ports Activities
General Information
Contains the codes and master data necessary for the EMDB subsystems such as: the
codes of the continents, geographic zones, standard units, currencies, agents, shipping
companies activities as well as the master data of countries, maritime companies,
agents and specialized ports (tourist, petroleum, mining, fishing).
Port Characteristics
The port characteristics subsystem contains master data on Egyptian ports such as
berths, warehouses, docks, waterways, means of transport, equipment, companies operating
inside the port, as well as the available services and facilities.
Ship Characteristics
Contains master data for the vessels, tonnage types and shipyards as well as the
master data of the Egyptian commercial fleet, also it contains the master data of
the foreign vessels calling at the Egyptian ports such as registration data, ownership,
type, flag, manufacturing, tonnage, and size.
Ship Traffic
It contains data on ship voyages through Egyptian ports, as well as information
on vessel arrival, shifting, berthing, inoperative intervals, departure and ship
services.
Cargo Traffic
It contains the detailed data of the manifest: Type and quantity of imported and
exported cargo from/to Egyptian ports, stripping modes, types and numbers of containers,
and means of transport.
Cargo Handling
It contains stevedoring information of ships calling at the Egyptian ports; including
ports equipment and personnel, in addition to delays encountered during cargo handling.
Shipping Lines
It covers the performance of the shipping agencies and regular lines operating at
the Egyptian ports, indicating container statistics (inbound, outbound and transit).
Daily Traffic
It contains a summary of the daily transactions within Egyptian ports indicating
inbound, and outbound vessels, shipping agencies, maritime line, date of arrival
and departure, cargo volume, stevedoring ports and number of passengers and tourists.
Specialized Ports
It contains the main data of the Egyptian specialized ports (fishing, mining, petroleum,
marinas…) concerning waterways, berths, equipment and facilities in addition to
relevant future projects.
Maritime Transport Entities
Contains the main data of different types of companies (navigation services, maritime
transport, stevedoring,…) as well as maritime agencies and other entities (public
sector, business sector, private sector, individuals,…) working in the maritime
transport field. Data covers all necessary information such as address, phone, fax,
emails, main activity and services provided.
Suez Canal Traffic
It contains data on vessels crossing the Suez Canal from north to south and vice-versa,
classified according to their types, tonnages, and capacities.
